This is a message for all "older" people:- I am 56 and have been practicing karate (on and off) for over 35 years and have trained under many great senseis across the various karate unions and associations of Great Britain. To date I have still not achieved the goal of black belt but, hopefully, I will aspire to this extra special level at my next grading. You may think, well...after 35 years and being 56 you may as well give up! Oddly, this has never entered my head. I have always wanted to be a black belt in karate. Having moved around the UK and Spain, at last I have found a resting place. This resting place has now introduced to me the Colchester Karate Academy. Having been a member of many clubs across my 35 years, it is fair to say that, at last, I have found a club that is involved in absolute dedication without the need to cost a fortune and, more particularly, a club which concentrates not only on perfecting karate but majors on developing character and life skills. You don't get this any many other clubs! The majority is interested in money. CKA is a brilliant organisation and as an "old git" I thoroughly recommend it to anyone interested in learning a classic art. They tell me that age is relative. Karate has taught me that age is "irrelevant". My respect goes to Sensei Landé Fourie for her support, expert tuition and for being such a lovely individual. Dave H.

Colchester Karate Academy is really an amazing place. I have seen my son develop in all sorts of ways. In particular he has learned to focus, work hard, be determined and has learned not to give up. Most importantly he is learning all of these skills without really knowing it - he goes to karate to have fun!! I honestly believe that Lande is an amazing teacher, she has a fabulous way with the children and it is clear to see that she always has their best interests at heart. It really is a joy to see my son have fun, exercise and learn really important life skills in a safe and caring environment. E Mabon
